In 1996 Candi moved back to Michigan where she continued in education for five
more years as a principal. In 2001 her life changed directions as she
left education and entered the world of business. Candi currently works
for her family’s Marine Dealership (Thayer Marine) in Jackson, Michigan where
she is involved in management and sales. Candi and her brothers (Kris and
Michael Thayer) are also the owners of a web-based solutions company called
Marine Dealer Technologies. This company provides point of sale software,
inventory management, warranty registration and claims for numerous
manufacturers and dealerships in the marine and power sports industries both in
the United States and Canada.
Candi believes that her thirst for knowledge and ongoing learning began at a
very early age at Ridgeway Elementary School. Her most impressionable
teachers displayed such a passion for teaching that it made learning fun and
exciting. She believes that their behavior created an eagerness and
drive in her to want to never stop learning. It is for this reason she
became involved in the creation of a JPS alumni association.
Fun Facts: Candi has one daughter (Megan) who is a 2010 graduate of
Jackson High School making her the third generation JPS graduate. Both of
her parents, all of her siblings, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and second
cousins are all graduates of Jackson Public Schools.
