   Dibble Elementary School

Mission Statement: The Dibble Elementary School community is committed to the development of every student. We will provide essential skills in all curricular areas so they will become life-long learners and productive, contributing members of society.

Principal:

Ms. Pam Perlos graduated with honors from Jackson Public Schools. She received a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Administration, Summa Cum Laude, from Michigan State University. Pamela has teaching experience in every level from preschool to adult education. Ms. Perlos is in her tenth year as a JPS administrator with 25 plus years in the field of education.

 History:

The history of Dibble School dates back to the 1800’s. The original log schoolhouse was replaced with a stone building in 1868, which was replaced by a wood structure in 1885. A brand new Dibble School was constructed in the 1950’s and an addition, which included a library, was built in the 1960’s. In 1967, the wood structure was donated to the Ella Sharp Museum. It currently is used in the Museum's educational living history program, Pioneer Living, throughout the school year.

 Demographics:

This year, there are 375 students enrolled in grades K-6. Dibble is located in a neighborhood setting on the corner of Robinson and Kibby Roads in Summit Township.

 Curriculum:

Dibble offers Cluster classes for students who qualify beginning in Second Grade. If students select to remain at Dibble instead of going to Fourth Grade L.E.A.P. classes, they remain in a Cluster through Sixth Grade. For more information on 4th and 5th grade Gifted and Talented Cluster groups, click here.  Dibble School adheres to the curriculum set forth by Jackson Public Schools that is aligned to the State of Michigan Standards and Benchmarks.

Of Special Interest:

Dibble participates in the Academic Games Program after school and on weekends. Students have the opportunity to go to Parkside to participate in the Sixth Grade Band Program four nights per week. The JPS Strings Program is open to students beginning in the Third Grade. Dibble supports a Cub Scout Pack as well as a Girl Scout Troop. These groups meet in the evening. Dibble Elementary has an active PTA, which supports and plans, in conjunction with the principal, various activities throughout the school year.
