The Frost Elementary staff is committed to doing whatever it takes to help our students achieve. Each classroom teacher works on a team, addressing the importance of learning styles, social and emotional development, and curriculum integration. They team in core academic areas such as math, science, social studies and language arts. This school-wide collaborative approach has allowed teachers to focus on the important district objectives and state benchmarks in our core academic areas.

Of Special Interest:

Students have had the opportunity to be involved in a number of after school programs, such as Drama Club, Choir, Academic Games, H.O.S.T.S., Instrumental Band, Orchestra, Project Success and tutoring. The future of these programs will be determined by funding sources at the district and state levels.

 Meet Mrs. Oswalt

Principal, Frost Elementary School

Hi, my name is Jennifer Oswalt.  I am excited to be the Principal at Frost Elementary School. I am proud to be part of Jackson Public Schools, making contributions to the education of children. The District has a rich history of providing quality education to the children of our community.

I began my career in education by graduating from Bowling Green State University (in Ohio). I decided to move away after graduation and took a job in Norris, South Dakota teaching first grade. My students were Native American children and I loved the experience of working in an area so different from Ohio. I taught there for two years, moving to Michigan and taking a job teaching 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students at Parkside. I then moved to Frost, where I taught for seven years, serving students in grades one through six. In 1994 I became the Assistant Principal at Hunt Elementary School, where I stayed for three years. After that I spent 10 years at Dibble as Principal.

My Bachelor’s Degree from BGSU is in the areas of Elementary Education, Specific Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairments, and Behavior Disorders. I hold a Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University in the area of Learning Disabilities. I received certification as an Elementary Principal through Eastern Michigan University where I am currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program in the area of Educational Leadership.

I am proud to have been named Jackson Public Schools Outstanding Administrator in 2000 as well as being recognized in 2005 by Michigan Dyslexia Institute, Inc. with the Marguerite Wharton Engle 16th Memorial Award.
