Jackson High School

JHS Parent Involvement

Jackson High School welcomes the involvement and ideas of our students' parents and other adults in the Jackson community. By attending 8th grade orientation and teacher conferences or planning annual events like the Ambassadors' Dinner and Project Graduation, parental involvement is essential to JHS success.

Parents 2 School Plan

As the effects of the No Child Left Behind Act and School Improvement mandates are felt throughout the community and as employers are requiring more and more technical skills and effective work habits, the community for Parents 2 School was formed.

The Parents 2 School plan is based upon the premise that bringing parents and caring adults into the schools will show students that their entire village of relationships is coming together to see that they succeed in school.

The ultimate goal is for area students to become valuable employees to the businesses in the Greater Jackson area. This would most certainly contribute to the overall prosperity of all parties involved.

As the American culture changes, so do values and expectations. Jackson Public Schools, the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Baker College of Jackson, Sims Consultants, V.O.I.C.E., Jackson Nonprofit Support Center, Jackson Community College, and Spring Arbor University want to work together to build the values and standards in the Jackson community so that the high expectations of these stakeholders are met. Through an integrated partnership, these entities wish to work together toward the goals of improving student academic achievement, self-esteem, and work ethics.

Jackson Public Schools, Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Baker College of Jackson, and Sims Consultants in cooperation with V.O.I.C.E., Jackson Nonprofit Support Center, Jackson Community College, and Spring arbor University has created the framework of this plan; volunteers assist the local school administrators in the implementation of the plan.

If you would like to participate in Parents 2 School, please contact Catherine Gillett at 517-782-8221.

If you are interested in getting involved in any other way at JHS, please email us at jhsmail@jps.k12.mi.us or call the main office at (517) 841-3700.

Thank you for supporting Jackson High School!
