JHS Orchestra

The Jackson High School orchestra is the only high school orchestra in the Jackson County. Only those individuals who have shown dedication to their stringed instrument are in the ensemble. Many of the musicians have had extensive experience playing their instrument and most of the musicians started playing in elementary school. The members of the orchestra take great pride in being part of this unique ensemble and share an intense passion for music. This common joy for playing good orchestral music is one of the most remarkable aspects of playing in the Jackson High School orchestra. Not only is there the teacher to student dynamic of learning to play as a high achieving orchestra with high standards for excellence, but there is a strong peer-to-peer dynamic that happens in the classroom as students work together to help each other meet these standards. The orchestra has a busy schedule of concerts for the community that involves holiday concerts, tours of the elementary schools, and festival. In addition, members of the orchestra always look forward to the annual retreat where they get to spend time with their musician friends outside of school and get a true sense for the word “ensemble”.
