Jackson Pathways Announcements

  • Good evening Viking family! This is Mrs. Lewis with this week’s high school announcements. It’s hard to believe that this is our last week of school. Each day has been an exciting adventure and we thank you for allowing us to be on this educational journey with your family.

As it gets warmer be sure that your student is abiding by the dress code policy or they will be asked to change.

Students will take their final exams on June 8 and June 9 with June 9 being their final day. Both days students will be dismissed at 10:45am. CHROMEBOOKS will be collected this week so be sure your student has their computer and carrying case to turn in before they leave on Friday at 10:45 am.

Each year we work to improve our academic performance and course outcomes. We will be sending a brief class survey to each student to assess their perspective on how we can improve our success in our school. Please encourage them to complete the survey for each class before Friday at 2:30pm. Thank you for your partnership and support.

We need your help encouraging your young person to be on time for school and for each class. Doors open at 7:00 am and classes begin at 7:20. Students have five minutes to get to each class. Their backpacks are to remain in their lockers for the duration of the day. There is only a need to carry their Chromebook in the case. In this case they can house their notebooks and folders if needed. Students who consistently remain in the hall after the tardy bell, will participate in lunch detentions, parent meetings, and/or IST, our in-school tutoring room where students are doing their classwork that is sent to them. If you would not like your child to participate in the aforementioned activities, please stress the importance of them being punctual to school and classes. Each time your young person is marked tardy or absent in a class, you will receive a call in the evening from our automated system letting you know. You can also log into PowerSchool to see exactly which class your student was late to or missed. We understand extenuating circumstances and work with all students and families in those situations. Be sure to contact your respective grade office if such a need arises. We thank you in advance!

  • January 15

    Good evening Viking Families,

This is Mr. Lewis, JHS 9th Grade Principal and Principal for Instruction for Jackson Pathways High School with this week’s high school announcements. I am hopeful that you have had a restful weekend and are looking forward to celebrating MLK day tomorrow.

As a reminder, school will not be in attendance tomorrow, however we hope that you can reflect, celebrate and commit an act of service to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King and his contribution to our country’s greatness.

Tomorrow, Monday January 16th, Jackson High School is hosting our second annual Martin Luther King Basketball Tournament. There will be 3 games played in the JHS Fieldhouse. The JHS JV team will tip off against Lansing Everett at 3:00 with Wayne Memorial Varsity Playing Farmington Hills at 5:00 pm and our Varsity Vikings will be taking on Lansing Everetts Varsity At 7. This event is sponsor by our local chapter of My Brother’s Keepers and at 6:30 we will be honoring Mr. Otis and Mrs. Shirley Brown with The Jackson Community Excellence Award for their service and commitment to the students of Jackson. Please come out to support our Vikings and help us celebrate this year’s honoraries.

Parent Teacher conference will be held this Thursday from 5:30 to 8:00 pm in the JHS Fieldhouse. It is critically important for you to be connected to your child’s educational progress. Some of your student’s classes have changed and they do have different instructors so this is a great opportunity to strengthen our partnership on behalf of your students' academic success.

Jackson Community Foundation Scholarships are now open and available through February 14th. You can access the application through the Jackson Community foundation website or contact our counseling staff or our college advisory for more information and details.

  • Good evening! This is Mr. Lewis, JHS assistant principal and Pathways Principal for Instruction with this week’s high school announcements.

In years past, JHS hosted its annual Thanksgiving Giving and collected non-perishable items for the Salvation Army to share with our community.

During the last couple years we have shifted to collecting items for several different community organizations that provide for those in need. Students in grade level, Viking Pride groups have identified an organization to which they want to donate. Our efforts are now called Vikings Give and runs from now - January 20, 2023.

Each grade is collecting the following items:
    Seniors - socks
    Juniors - non-perishable items
Sophomores- men’s hats and gloves and Amazon gift cards
    Freshmen - women’s self-care products

In addition, the class of 2026 will be hosting a fundraiser tomorrow night at Culver’s on O’Neill Dr. from 5-8. Part of the proceeds from all of the meals purchased will benefit the class of 2026 and the SOAR home.

If you would like to donate, please contact us at 517.841.3700 and we will get you connected with our Student Government.

NHS will be hosting talent show auditions after school in the auditorium on Friday December 9th. Please contact Mrs. Crist at melissa.crist@jpsk12.org for more information.

Join us for our JHS Holiday Band Concert 7 pm in the auditorium on Tuesday, December 6.

There will be a senior meeting on Friday morning with a late bus for JACC students.

The Parent Network will be hosting a Holiday breakfast for our school staff on Dec.22nd. They would appreciate help with this event. If any of our Viking families would like to donate towards the catered meal and small gift bags being given out, please have your student drop off your donation to Mrs Edwards in the Welcome Center.

Data from the annual National Youth Tobacco Survey showed that 14.1% of high school students and 3.3% of middle school students said they'd recently used an e-cigarette or other vape product. The CDC's Office on Smoking and Health, said the new numbers show that this year, 2.5 million middle and high school students in the U.S. are reporting vaping. As we work to improve our community and decrease unnecessary traffic in the bathrooms, in addition to referrals to our drug prevention program; JUMP (just understand my potential), we are looking at adding MIP (minors in possession) to students who are caught vaping or in possession of substances when they are on campus. Officer Stallworth will now be issuing MIP tickets. If your young person has a habit that they need help kicking, please reach out to a principal or counselor. We thank you for your help with this concern as we try to help our young people. https://truthinitiative.org/thisisquitting
