Welcome to the Department of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Curriculum

Serving as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), and Curriculum for Jackson Public Schools is an esteemed responsibility, and engaging with school and district leadership, parents, students, and community organizations is a fulfilling experience.

Our district recognizes the vital importance of confronting implicit biases, navigating discomfort, and engaging in challenging conversations to foster more inclusive schools for all students. We are dedicated to enacting tangible, positive changes in our educational system, combating racism, bias, and discrimination in any form.

Our commitment lies in:

  • Embracing Responsibility: Taking on the responsibility to cultivate a culture that accepts, celebrates, and empowers racial differences.
  • Amplifying All Voices: Creating an environment where every voice is heard and valued.
  • Navigating Discomfort: Encouraging an openness to understanding and connecting with individuals who may hold different thoughts, beliefs, or perspectives.

As we embark on this transformative journey together, our goal is to champion the true meaning of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is our duty to instill a culture that embraces and celebrates the richness of racial diversity. My objective is to strategically implement changes that align with the district's goals, making Jackson Public Schools a more equitable and inclusive educational institution. Collaboration with students, their families, educators, and the community will be instrumental in achieving this vision.

Continuous communication, transparency, and ongoing professional development will be integral components of our approach. By fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment, we aim to create a lasting positive impact on the experiences of all students in Jackson Public Schools. I am excited about the journey ahead and the positive changes we will bring to our school district.
