Martin DuBois, Principal

Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Frost Elementary School. My name is Martin DuBois and I am the Principal at Frost. We are so excited to have you and your student as part of our school community and family. I promise to ensure a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment so that your child will grow as much as possible socially, emotionally and academically.

Our staff is highly trained and dedicated to helping all students be successful. We are constantly looking for more creative ways to reach our students through research-based interventions and proven educational practices. We believe that all students can learn, achieve and succeed. We are also dedicated to helping your child grow emotionally and socially. Mr. James Bradley is our Behavior Specialist and with his guidance and support, we are making huge gains in reducing behavior issues.

At Jackson Public Schools, we strive for excellence. We are focused on creating students who are workforce ready and are lifelong learners. At Frost, we have begun a new PBIS or Positive Behavior Intervention Supports program, based on a HERO motto, HERO standing for Helpful, Effort, Respectful and Ownership. We feel that these are the qualities that help students be successful in school and in life. We also strive to teach our students about cultural diversity and understanding different viewpoints as well as different perspectives that others may have. By doing this, we hope to create an environment where all people are accepted regardless of skin color, ethnicity, religion or gender. We are in this game together so we should be working together to achieve the common good.

To promote lifelong learning, we like to engage our students in hands-on learning experiences that are designed to get them interested in the world around them. This past year, with the support of our PTO, we were able to send our students to the Dahlem Nature Center in order to learn about the environment and to open their eyes to the world outside of the city. This type of hands-on learning is priceless.

The progress towards our new building is happening fast and we will be starting construction this summer! We are very excited and grateful for the support provided to us by you…our JPS community.

We are very excited about you and your student joining us for this school year. It’s going to be a great year of learning! Believe the hype and GO VIKINGS!
