Ms. Jill Weatherwax, Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Jill Weatherwax and I will be the eighth grade principal this school year. This is my first year as an administrator, my 19th year at Parkside, and my 24th with Jackson Public Schools. I look forward to continuing established relationships with students and guiding them in a new capacity. Students can look forward to continuing a rigorous and individualized educational path as they complete their time as middle schoolers. Our enthusiastic and highly trained staff is dedicated to nurturing and developing each student's strengths and supporting their educational, social, and emotional needs.
Eighth graders will be able participate in a variety of extracurricular activities such as athletics, National Junior Honor Society, Gay-Straight Alliance, Academic Games, Engineering Club, Student Council, French Club, First Robotics, and after-school tutoring. There are many ways for students to shine and to develop their talents and interests here at Parkside. The Eighth Grade Community Project will allow the students to showcase their community action and involvement and will foster an enduring appreciation of service and collaboration.
The educational opportunities at the Middle School at Parkside and Jackson Public Schools prepare all students to be workforce ready by enabling students to take ownership of their learning and future and to become lifelong learners. Students are encouraged to check Power School regularly, have dialogues with their teachers, actively participate in classes, and be the directors of their own learning and career path choices.
Each day, staff and students at Parkside strive to exemplify our three tenets:
Be your best.
Our door is always open to students and families. Please don’t hesitate to call, email, or visit any time.
