Jeff Smith, Assistant Principal
Hello Viking Family!
As the 2019-2020 school year is upon us, I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jeff Smith and I will be joining the team here at Jackson High as your new assistant principal. I am excited for this opportunity to work at this amazing district with such a tremendous reputation for promoting academic excellence, workforce readiness and lifelong learning.
A little background on me, I’ve been in education for 16 years as a teacher and an administrator. I taught both traditional and non-traditional education here in Jackson county and in Lansing. For the past few years, I have served as an administrator in Livingston county. I grew up in Lansing with deep roots in education. My wife, Gina, is an educator at the elementary level. Together, we have 3 children, Rachael, Jossilyn, and Kasen.
Part of my responsibilities are overseeing the freshman class (2023) however, it is my hope that in the coming school year we can work together to help every student develop the attributes needed for them to define success. That is why we want to increase our focus on the social/emotional well being of the students, as well as continue to cultivate a culture of positive results, growth mindset belief, and strength based empowerment. And thanks to Jackson community’s support of the Bond renovations, students will enter this school year equipped with tools that will promote 21st century learning and creativity in the classroom.
I hope your ready for great things this school year...Believe the Hype!!
