Weekly Announcements 4/10

Good evening Viking! This is Mr. Lewis with your weekly announcements.

Congratulations and thank you to our students who participated in the reduce the violence summit. We continue to hear from community members messages about what a thoughtful, engaged and insightful group of young people who represented JHS/JPHS. I want to say thank you and you should be proud of the way in which you rep being a Viking!

Spring testing will begin on Tuesday, April 12, please check out this newsletter for specific details.
Monday will be a regular day of school.
Tuesday, all juniors will need to arrive to test by 7:20 am as doors close at 7:30 and no students will be allowed in after that time. Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will begin their day at 10:40 a.m.
Juniors will test on Wednesday and must arrive by 7:20 am. Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will arrive at 1:10 p.m. and have a Spring Battle of the Classes with a pizza lunch served.
Juniors will continue testing on Thursday, students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will begin their day at 11:40 a.m.
No School on Friday. Testing will resume on Monday for all students except for seniors.
Our JHS/JPHS Community Closet is hosting a second free, prom dress event, Say Yes to the Dress! This will be held on April 22 from 2:30-4:00 in the cafeteria! This event will provide free prom dresses for our students!!

The Parent Network will be hosting a luncheon for our staff during teachers appreciation week. We’d also like to give our teachers gift cards at this luncheon. If you’d like to donate gift cards or give a monetary donation, you or your student can drop them off to Mrs. Edwards in the main office.

The JHS/JPHS Prom will be held on May 21 at the Commonwealth building in the CityView Ballroom from 8:30- 11:30 pm. Tickets will be $40 and are now on sale on gofan.co.

Just a reminder that our day begins at 7:20 a.m. with doors opening at 7:00 a.m. Please have your young person here no later than 7:15 a.m. to be on time for school. Our day ends at 2:17 pm and all students must depart the building by 2.30 pm. Please plan accordingly.

After School Tutoring is canceled for this week due to testing and there will be no school on Friday.
